Worldwide, the population of orphans and vulnerable children is estimated to be around 160 million, with sub-Saharan Africa accounting for 80% of these children. Of the 80%, Nigeria has 13.8 million orphans and vulnerable children roaming her streets abandoned, alone and fighting (UNICEF, 2019). In another recent joint report by WHO, UNICEF, and The Lancet. Nigeria ranked in the bottom 10 for child flourishing, ranking “174 out of 180 countries, below Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and South Sudan” .
